Quilting Series: The Weekend Rag Quilt
Cozy, charming, and a little unconventional — this rag quilt puts a playful twist on traditional quilting.
Made with exposed seams that are clipped and fluffed to create a charming “ragged” texture, this quilt is as fun to make as it is to wrap up in. It comes together quickly using the Quilt-As-You-Go method and requires no binding — once your patchwork is stitched, you're done!
Choose between the crib-size (42" x 49") or throw-size (56" x 63"), depending on who you're making it for — it’s a lovely project for gifting or keeping for yourself. In our first class, we’ll focus on cutting fabric and batting. Then we’ll spend the rest of our time bringing your quilt to life, from start to finish.
This class is perfect for confident beginners who have taken our Sewing 101 or have similar sewing experience. Students should be able to comfortably thread and operate a sewing machine on their own.
Recommended Fabrics:
This pattern is written for use with quilting cotton, flannel, or other lightweight woven fabric.
Material Requirements
• Quilt Top: (5) coordinating fabrics
• Quilt Back: (1) fabric
• Batting: 90” (228.6cm) wide batting
CRIB:
• Quilt Top Fabric (5) each: 1/2 yard each (0.5m)
• Batting - 90" (228.6cm) wide: 7/8 yard (0.8m)
• Quilt Back Fabric: 2-1/8 yard (2m)
THROW:
• Quilt Top Fabric (5) each: 3/4 yard each (0.7m)
• Batting - 90" (228.6cm) wide: 1-1/4 yard (1.14m)
• Quilt Back Fabric: 3 yard (2.74m)
Notions Needed:
• (1) spool of thread
Tools Needed:
• Rotary cutter, cutting mat & ruler or fabric scissors
• Pins and/or clips
• Disappearing ink fabric marker or tailor’s chalk

If we’re not able to fill your spot, or if you cancel with less than 72 hours’ notice, we’ll issue you a credit that can be used toward a future class.
